Our Mission

To support men through intervention, prevention, and awareness in the context of intimate partner and family violence.

Our Vision

To break the cycle of domestic violence and prevent reoffending by fostering responsible behavior within equal and respectful relationships.

We were founded in 1986 by community members, including Maison Dauphinelle, in response to the needs arising from the challenges of domestic violence.

Our Board of Directors is made up of community members and service users, operating independently from the public health network.

We promote democratic and community participation through the voluntary involvement of our members at the AGM and in various committees.

We contribute to social change by encouraging accountability and rebuilding among our members in the context of domestic violence.

We are deeply rooted in our community, collaborating with partners from the community, academic, and health sectors.

We are an incorporated non-profit organization and are able to receive donations.

We determine our own course of action freely.

Through awareness and prevention initiatives, we take a civic approach that addresses the full scope of issues related to domestic violence.

An Inclusive and Respectful Approach

Our approach is inclusive, without distinction or regard to sexual orientation, gender identity, cultural background, religion, or ethnicity.

A Brief History

The history of SAC has been shaped by the work of its founder, Yves Nantel, who dedicated over 30 years to its mission before retiring in 2018. His contributions had a significant impact in raising the visibility of men's health issues, redefining masculinity, shifting conversations among community, institutional, and political stakeholders, and establishing the importance of offering services to men in order to promote gender equality in relationships. His pioneering work with men experiencing domestic violence in the 1990s continues to be the foundation of SAC's recognized expertise with this specific population.
